Is this assessment for initial certification or annual renewal?
This assessment is for initial RBT® certification only. The BACB eliminated the annual renewal competency requirement effective January 2026. If you are looking for RBT® renewal requirements, please visit bacb.com for current renewal guidelines.

Do I need to have completed my 40-hour training before booking?
Yes — you must hold a completed 40-hour RBT® training certificate from a BACB-recognized provider before booking. You'll upload your certificate as part of the booking process.

I trained with another company — can I still use GoBeyond for my competency?
Absolutely. We accept certificates from any BACB-recognized provider — ATCC, Autism Partnership Foundation, Behavior Webinars, and others. Our assessment is administered independently of your original training.

What documents do I need to complete my booking?

What happens if I don't pass one part?
Partial retake (Role Play only): $150 · Full retake (both parts): $175. Your detailed feedback report will tell you exactly what to work on before your retake appointment.

Can I take the virtual assessment if I live outside Florida?
Yes — the virtual option is available to candidates anywhere in the US. You do not need to travel to our Lauderhill office to complete your assessment. Here is what you need for your virtual appointment:

How soon after passing can I apply for the BACB Board Exam?
Immediately — once you've passed both parts you're eligible to apply through the BACB site. Our team walks you through the full BACB application process at no additional cost. This is included in your assessment.

My RBT course start date was more than 180 days ago. Can I still take my competency assessment with GoBeyond Training Labs?
Yes. The 180-day window applies to how long your 40-hour training can take (start to finish), not to how long you have to schedule your competency assessment afterward. You can take the assessment with GoBeyond any time after finishing the course. This applies only to those who took the course elsewhere.
One BACB rule to keep in mind: your competency assessment must be completed no more than 90 days before you submit your RBT certification application to the board. So once you pass the assessment, plan to apply for the exam within that 90-day window; if you wait longer, you'll need to retake the competency assessment.

Why does GoBeyond require the course, competency assessment, and RBT board exam to be done within 180 days?
For those who took the course with us, we built this timeline after reviewing data from hundreds of past competency assessments. Finishing your course, competency assessment, and board exam within 180 days gives you the best chance of passing, so it's built into every RBT course's Pass Guarantee.
If you miss the 180-day window, you forfeit the free competency assessment that came with your course. You won't have to retake the course; you'll just pay for the competency assessment later at the current listed price.
